Many of our clients have been receiving fraudulent e-mails from "Asian Domain Registration Service in China" stating that there is someone attempting to register a domain name similar to theirs (see one sent to us below). However, this is just a pathetic attempt to get you to frantically register a bunch of useless (but very similar) domain names like this example of our domain name... sitetechsupport.com.cn or sitetechsupport.com.au (which we would have no use for and neither do you).
They are mainly preying on people who have very little time to investigate but prefer to err on the side of caution and just by the domains to be on the safe side. If you have any questions about any of these e-mails feel free to forward them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we would be happy to let you know if it's legitimate or not (at no charge to you).
The e-mails look something like this...
About the "sitetechsupport". We are the department of Asian Domain Registration Service in China. Here I have something to confirm with you. We formally received an application on May 6, 2014 that a company claimed "Cenldunrry Company" were applying to register "sitetechsupport" as their Net Brand and some "sitetechsupport" Asian countries top-level domain names through our firm.
Now we are handling this registration, and after our initial checking, we found the name were similar to your company's, so we need to check with you whether your company has authorized that company to register these names. If you authorized this, we would finish the registration at once. If you did not authorize, please let us know within 7 workdays, so that we could handle this issue better. After the deadline we will unconditionally finish the registration for "Cenldunrry Company" Looking forward to your prompt reply.
(It's very urgent, so please transfer this email to your CEO or appropriate person. Thanks a lot.)
